Meritus University enjoys a large degree of academic autonomy and self-governance.
The Academic Council of Meritus University is the body that has over-arching authority concerning all academic matters at the University. It is composed of representatives of the student body, faculty members and the Meritus administrative team, including the President, Provost, Vice President(s), Registrar, Dean(s), Chair(s) of Academic Programs and Legal Counsel. The Academic Council is charged by the Board of Directors with responsibility for reviewing and approving academic strategic plans, enrolment policies, curriculum development and approval of policies and procedures related to academic affairs, including admissions, teaching, faculty selection, student records, quality assurance of courses and programs and other academic issues that may arise.
Meritus University is operated by Meritus University, Inc., a subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc. The business affairs of the University are governed by the Board of Directors of Meritus University, Inc.
