Fredericton, New Brunswick – Friday, September 19, 2008 – Meritus University, Canada’s newest online university, celebrated its official launch in grand style at its headquarters in Fredericton, NB.
Representatives from Canada’s academic, business and political communities as well as local and national supporters joined Meritus president Dr. John Crossley and his 60-member staff to celebrate the day. Fredericton MP Andy Scott, The Honourable Ed Doherty, Post Secondary Education, Training, Labour, The Honourable Mayor Brad Woodside, Mayor, Fredericton were in attendance to commemorate the occasion and show their support.
“We are so thrilled to finally open our doors to Fredericton and the world,” said Dr. Crossley. “Meritus University brings a unique and accessible learning environment to Canada’s working professionals everywhere. We hope to provide quality education that will enhance the work environment and build all our students’ skill levels.”
Meritus University is among a small number of fully online universities operating in Canada and was recently approved by the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.
It provides a global, mobile, innovative, and highly competitive educational format, giving students flexible options that fit today’s global workplace and suit today's diverse lifestyle.
Meritus University offers business and information technology undergraduate degree programs and a Master’s in business administration degree program. It is now accepting applications for fall classes.
