Distance Education - the “Online” modality
The University uses technology to create effective modes and means of instruction that expand access to learning resources and enhance collaboration and communication. Our online academic model was founded on Apollo’s academic research into how students learn online and has been validated through years of use at other Apollo institutions. The model emphasizes reading, research, analysis, evaluation, writing, argument-building, discussion, and collaboration. The online classroom provides tools to facilitate interaction among students and faculty; it also gives you access to library, research, writing and other support services.
Online Learning System (OLS)
OLS is a web-based learning environment that offers a convenient medium for faculty-to-student and student-to-student interaction. An easy-to-use, easy-to-access system, OLS enables you to “go to class” to engage in individual and group discussion and lectures, anytime via the Internet. OLS works with most Internet Service Providers.
Through a familiar Windows-like format, navigation is fast and easy. A full set of capabilities allows you to complete 100% of your education and administration online. You can log on, regardless of which internet provider you use, participate in the online classroom, check e-mail, and access a variety of student services. Besides participating in the full range of class meeting and study group activities, you can communicate with instructors, interact with classmates, and conduct your research online.
